SKILL REQUIREMENTS

All musical team members must be able to:

1.  Read chord charts
2. Properly tune their instruments
3. Have a basic understanding of music theory
4. Play in tempo
5. Play in different time signatures (3/4, 4/4, 6/8) in a variety of patterns
6. Play dynamically (soft, medium, loud)
7. Play/sing on pitch
8. Follow the direction of the leader’s interpretation of the song through improvisation
9. Play/sing in front of other people

All musical team members must be willing to:

1.  Not play if a song requires it, or if asked by the team leader
2. Lead a song if asked/needed

Stringed-instrument players must be able to:

1.  Know the names of strings
2. Have a basic understanding of fret-board
3. Know and play all major and minor chords
4. Properly utilize capo (guitar only)

Vocalists must be able to:

1. Hear and/or be taught parts (sing harmony and melody)
2. Blend with and adapt their vocal style to a team of vocalists
3. Confidently sing into a microphone in front of others
4. Show proper use of vibrato in a contemporary worship context

Drums/Percussion must be able to:

1. Properly utilize various types of sticks
2. Play with control
3. Follow team leader’s lead during songs (continue, speed up, etc.)
